if the car has a boost reading it may use that, if the car is mass air with no MAP sensor at all which is rare but it happens it can calculate it but it doesn't seem to have an interface that tell you how it is reading it nor a way to make your own method by converting from MAP sensor data to more familiar units. Looks like torque can vary for how it reads boost. I assume Torque does the same since it utilzes OBD2 connected information. i'm not sure, it could be a choice by the developer since most phones with gingerbread or earlier won't have wifi direct (unless it's a galaxy s2). this may just be something in the app from days before wifi direct was built into the operating system, or it may actually need host mode. I know using alfa obd on my nexus 5 it asks for root.

but they eventually opened it up to all audio and probably other things but it may not be as complete a set of protocols as an average android phone (which is often incomplete).

many game controllers are not currently supported on modern android phones but are on some usually ones with a more vanilla version of android and they are supported on most old androids (anything pre bt3.0), apt-x is a new high quality audio protocol and is supported by high end android phones but is not included in "vanilla" android as it come from google, it'sjust added by the manufacturers who often compile their own bt stack.Īs far as apple i haven't used an apple product since the iphone 3g and at that time they wanted to focus on phone functionality so bluetooth only used phone related protocols like earpieces and remote hands free dialing from a car.

it's up to the phone manufacturer to decide what to compile into the bluetooth stack and this can vary even within the android operating system. bluetooth has many versions and with new versions some protocols get deprecated and dropped. not to different from obd currently working over a "CAN" network for newer vehicles but there is still differences in protocols and baud rates, even though the protocol is standard in north america there still needs to be a file to tell what baud rate to communicate at.

Hope to get the new update soon.īluetooth is the type of communication but within that there are many communication protocols. It all seems strange to me since WiFi and BT are industry standard wireless interfaces. Many of the BT interfaces do not support IOS.
